Wow, those guys are tough. We just came in out of the rain after watching the finish of this stage of the Tour of California. I can’t believe those guys rode bicycles from Davis to Santa Rosa in the cold, wet weather, and I can’t believe that many people showed up to watch them finish.

In a carnival atmosphere, everyone seemed to be having a good time. If you’re looking for proof that Santa Rosans appreciate this race, this afternoon’s conditions should have taken care of that.

After the stage, Lance Armstrong, the seven-time Tour de France, twittered: “Holy hell. That was terrible. Maybe one of the toughest days I’ve had on a bike, purely based on the conditions. I’m still freezing.”

He should have been with us. We ducked inside for a hot chocolate.
