We’re in Sacramento today to watch a bunch of good-government types discuss what it will take to return competence and accountability to state government. The event – the California Constitutional Convention Summit – is sponsored by the Bay Area Council, Common Cause, the League of Women Voters and others. Speakers will include Sacramento Bee columnist Dan Walters, Lt. Gov. John Garamendi and former North Bay Assemblyman Bill Bagley.

“Good-government types” is such a quaint term. Once upon a time, we would have expected everyone to be for good government. Now we know better. We have learned the hard way.

I expect to report later on today’s program.

Can Humpty-Dumpty be put together again? Stay tuned.
